Consistory Has Been Called For Vatican April 1

VATICAN CITY March 11--(AP) -A secret consistory has been summoned to meet April 1, it was officially announced at the Vatican today.

Prelates said several days ago Pope Pius was planning to hold a public consistory four days after the secret consistory for final approval of the canonization of Thomas More, Henry VIII's chancellor, who lost his head because he opposed Henry's divorce and marriage to Anne Boleyn.

The canonization of Bishop John Fisher, one-time bishop of Rochester and a contemporary of More, was expected to be submitted at the same time.

Prelates said also the pontiff probably would create new cardinals, since the sacred college now is down to 51 members instead of the maximum of 70.
