George A. Graves's hardware store on Main street was the scene of a tragical attempt at suicide last week, the victim being Robert P. Hubbard, a railroad man whose home appears to be in Cobleskill, N. Y. He bought a pistol, loaded it, and while the clerk's back was turned shot himself through the lung. Hubbard was visited Saturday by his brother, Joseph O. Hubbard, who came from Cobleskill, N. Y., in response to Mayor Phillips's telegram. The brother denies the report that his brother is a fugitive from justice, but admits that the man is rather wild. The patient is doing very well at the hospital, and now wishes to recover.
