WHO WILL BE PRESIDENT?

Although there is some talk and speculation as to who will be chosen from among the Democratic members as president of the next state senate, it is reported that Senator Mulford Winsor, of Yuma, is an active candidate for re-election to this honorable position. Senators Davis and Cox, both from Maricopa county, are believed to be anxious to preside over the senate as its president; Leslie C. Hardy, senator from Santa Cruz, and Senator Claud Smith, of Pima county, are regarded as respective candidates for the same position. It is known that Dr. Briscoe, representative from Cochise county, will stand as a candidate for speaker of the house.

In Maricopa county the only two women candidates for representatives to the legislature were defeated, one a Democrat and one a Republican and both members of the lower house of the last legislature. They were Mrs. Ivy, Democrat, and Mrs. Marks, Republican.--Arizona Star.
