Full Text

ACROSTIC. BY A LADY.

On a celebrated BEAUTY, once much admired by the gallants of Congress.

My Lady's noble bosom

She's liberal, candid, unreserved and free,

She's lov'd by Heroe's of the first degree.

Like pure, refracting, spotless, mountain snows,

In Alpine heights, where no rude footstep goes;

Balmy as zephyrs of Sabæan groves,

Easy and agile as the Stag that roves,

Rural as Auburn, on the village green

Tripping elastic round the eternal scene,

Youth, truth and vigor, blended in her mien.
