Seems like there was quite a drop in the number of calls through long distance. From over 29,000 calls we dropped to 27,885. But that was only one day-Wednesday.
However the lessening of traffic didn't affect the amount of supervision in the office. This to be expected. If so, it should also be expected that more help be given with increasing traffic.
Something is amiss, too, in the Assistant Chief Operator group. Wonder why all the switching around from office to office? If there is a shortage in that group, seems to me a few promotions might help.
Took a look at the Index results and found that the overall for the City is 95. Now, if this is the case why is it that we don't hear about the good job done?
Of course, we understand that the Company expects it to be 100. But, in effect, 95 is equivalent to 100. Or so they used to tell me.
We have proof that sometimes good news follows bad. A week ago Ruth TenEyck was informed of an automobile accident involving her brother-in-law which was quite serious. Then while she was there with him she was informed that her newly adopted son was waiting for her. We know that this was wonderful news and our congratulations to her.
Loretta Wagner is out on disability and Alice Heller is taking a leave starting this week. Angela Capazo has resigned and Juanita Cline is leaving to go to California.
Two more girls starting their leave are Colleen Smith and Charlene Smith. Also Naomi Keister and Albin Stevens are out ill.
We've also been wondering if everyone knows their respective Chief Steward. Here they are in case the need arises that you might wish to contact them: A-Betty Roach, B-Ida Crye, C-Gertie Finn, DSA-Freda Hall and Cafeteria-Lucille Hall.
A party will be held at the Swiss Hall about the first week in November. The benefits will go toward a party for the Old Folks Home. We're hoping that each member will buy at least one book. It's a fact that everyone will have a good time.
And one more thing -important no less - the reports of new members have been coming in fine. Everyone is doing a fine job. Keep it up!
The accounting department welcomes Arlene Keeling back from her leave. And attention all you accounting girls -be sure to report all bug bites to your Steward.
