Gov't Fire Losses for 1935 were low
Fort Peck.
U. S. Engineers office, Jan. 7. 1936

Total fire losses during 1935 for government property in the town which is supervised by Army Engineers were only $59.81. There were 3 fires, a tractor burning off weeds lost its tires at loss of $32.81.

A smoking workman in barracks burned his bedding. loss $12.00.

The other $15 loss was damage to government buildings.

Besides this excellent record in Fort Peck proper, the Fort Peck Fire Department responded to six fires in surrounding towns, viz. 3 in Wheeler, 1 in Park Grove, 1 in New Deal and 1 in Midway.

Losses in 10 fires to other than government property aggregated $2279.00, caused to contractor's bldg 8 miles from fire station, auto collision on highway, gasoline, electric iron, defective waterheater flue drying clothes, etc.

The population of the area totals 12,357 as of Nov. 30, 1935, in Fort Peck, Wheeler, New Deal, Park Grove, McCone City, Wilson Heights, Delano Heights, Idlewild, Lakeview, Martinville, Midway, Minot, Happy Hollow, Square Deal and Valley.

A total of 6471 persons were vaccinated against smallpox in 4 different clinics.
