TWO PLANES HOP OFF INTO SKY AND VANISH OBLIVION
NEW YORK, Nov., 29, (AP)- Several vessels which have been reported in distress or missing reached port as the fury of the winter's onslaught abated.
Two fliers are still missing. In some sections threats of snow promised more trouble.
Deaths attributed to cold numbered more than 50. The Canadian grainer Maple Leaf, which was feared had been lost, passed the Sault St. Marie locks undamaged this morning.
The British steamer Wearbridge which yesterday asked for aid off New Jersey, proceeded under her own power.
The ship Simcoe, on Lake Erie, tied up at Cleveland after a stormy passage.
No further tidings came from the disabled steamer off Cape Hatteras.
Mrs. J. M. Keithmiller, Australian flier, is feared to have been drowned as she is unreported since leaving Havana yesterday morning for Miami. It is said the woman feared she would drown on the flight but feared people would think her a coward if she did not fly in the face of a stiff wind and choppy seas.
The other flyer, W. F. Griffin, disappeared Tuesday while flying from Ontario to Cleveland in a small plane.
