Full Text
The Right Spirit.—Col. Carrington, commanding the post at Indianapolis, in an order just issued, uses this language:
The recent popular demonstration against a newspaper of this State is bad in principle, bad in precedent, and destructive to the best interests of the Commonwealth. It must be deeply regretted by every good citizen, inasmuch as there are reasonable and lawful modes of redress for grievances, and all appeals to popular violence are two-edged in their strokes, assailing the very liberties they assume to vindicate.
