CHICAGO-(NNPA)- Mrs. Lorraine Green was appointed a member of the Board of Education Thursday by Mayor Daley.
Mrs. Green is the wife of Judge Wendell E. Green of Family Court and is a member of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations.
She will succeed Sydney P. Brown, whose term expires April 30. Mr. Brown resigned recently because of ill health.
Mrs. Green holds master's and doctor's degrees from the University of Chicago, where she served two years as a research assistant in the department of sociology
She is a member of advisory committees to the board of health and the chief justice of the Municipal Court and a director of the Citizens of Greater Chicago. She has served in the past as chairman of the department of educational and recreation of the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago, on the advisory board of the Illinois State Training School for Girls and as a board member of the Chicago Urban League.
