this week by Mr. Jesse Waters, of
Rudolph, Wood county, and we were
shown a certificate from the Chicago
Smelting and Refining Company dated
July 14th 1883. It reads as follows:
"This is to certify that I have carefully
assayed mill run, for gold and silver the
sample of ore deposited by A. C. Merritt
and marked "mill run 100lbs" and have
found the same to contain to the ton of
two thousand pounds. Silver 6 and 2/10
ozs. Value at $1.10 per oz. Gold 4 and
6/10 ozs. Value at $20.67/100 per oz.
Total $90.16. Signed, Chas. W. Forebush,
assayer. No. 1250."
