ON THE DEATH OF MRS. FRANCES SAUNDERS.

Oh! could I paint thine image dear,
To wipe away each falling tear
Which from thy tender husband's eyes
Incessant flows-and yet denies
The ease of heart, tears un-suppressed
So oft afford the aching breast!

Thou, morning flower! before the noon,
"A blossom gathered for the tomb!"
Grace, wit and beauty all combin'd
With sense and elevated mind.
To render thee so much belov'd,
And all thy gentle course approv'd.

All whoe wild pangs, with aching heart
The awful moment, to depart
The bursting sigh of tenderness-
The last wild gaze of eagerness-
The cold, the last, the sad farewell-
Nought but his throbbing heart could tell!

But there is yet a brighter sphere-
A more congenial place than here
Where still more lovely then will be
That blossom, in Eternity-
Yes, there with greater lustre bloom
Beyond the precincts of the tomb
