Disgruntled Discharged
Employee Kills Two

NEW YORK, (AP) - Two women were shot dead in a textile firm office yesterday by a man who had been fired by the firm a half hour earlier.

The man was disarmed by three men. Police identified him as Ponell Johnson, 27, a Negro.

The victims were Lorraine Rosenberg and Elaine Fallik, clerical workers. Both were in their 20's.

Police gave this story:

Johnson had been discharged shortly before 10 a.m. by the Marvin Fabrics Co., 96 Madison Ave., for "unsatisfactory service." He returned at 10:25 a.m., carrying a rifle.

He started blaming "everybody" for his discharge and began firing.

One shot hit Miss Rosenberg, another struck Miss Fallik and a third went wild.

Three men rushed at him, knocked the rifle from his hands and held him until police arrived.
