Mt. Pleasant Wins Citrus Use Plan

The Mt. Pleasant elementary school has won first prize of $25 in a "Citrus Use Contest" sponsored by the Florida Citrus Commission, as an adjunct to the Florida State Chamber of Commerce "Eat More Citrus" program, in Florida schools during February and March of this year.

The purpose of the contest was to stress the health and economic values of citrus through school lunch and regular school activities.

Entered in the contest were 77 schools from 27 counties competing for prizes so arranged that the schools in the citrus producing counties would not compete with those in the non-producing counties. The schools also competed against schools of approximately the same enrollment.

It was through the efforts of the principal, lunchroom manager, and teachers that the winning of this contest was possible. They are credited with serving citrus in some form for 39 out of the 40 days of the contest.
