SATURDAY, APRIL 30.
Brig. Gen. Winder arrived in this city on Thursday evening. The rumors which accompanied him to New York, appear to have progressed no farther. There can be no truth in the reports at New York respecting the conclusion of an Armistice. If such an event should take place, it will certainly be known in Washington as soon as in New York. Of the probability of an armistice at an early day, there are various opinions among well informed men; and any man who considerately views the present state of our relations with the enemy, is quite as competent as we are to decide correctly in this respect.
