Full Text

We announced briefly last week, the appointment of proxies and directors for the Central Railroad, by the Board of Public Works. In some of the Internal Improvement Companies one third Whigs were appointed, but in this Company all the recent appointees are Democrats. Men of experience, and against whom no complaints are alleged, are coolly thrust aside to make room for political friends, men of energy and business capacity in other matters perhaps, but who have never recommended themselves for this appointment by peculiar devotion to the cause of the Central Railroad heretofore. The Charlottesville Advocate says, "Those acquainted with the appointees will see at a glance that not only have Whigs been proscribed, but that Democrats have been selected upon mere party considerations."
