Full Text

OMAHA, Neb., October 14.-N. P. Falconer & Company's large dry goods and millinery store was closed on a chattel mortgage this morning. The company has been in business in Omaha a great many years and has been considered one of the most substantial houses in the West. The competition set up by the big department stores is regarded as one of the factors in this failure.

It is thus that our beautiful competitive system continues to wipe out small business enterprises and concentrate everything in the hands of a few men; and still merchants, bankers and business men continue to vote for the perpetuation of a system which renders their own ultimate ruin certain. This prosperity wave must strike each one individually before he can get his eyes open.
