"Wilful Mis-statement".-The editor of the American, made a wilful mis-statement in his paper of Tuesday week, and he has been charged with it time out of time. He was informed by respectable gentlemen before and after the article in question-was published, that Mr. Jones was appointed Secretary of the republican convention, and by men whose words are not to be doubted; still he remains silent. What are the people of this community to think of such a man? He has been charged with falsehood, and says not one word in his defence Come out, dear sir, and acknowledge you told a fib, and promise to do better in future, and confine yourself to the truth.
