Controls Power

The charge by State Sen. Margaret C. Schweinhaut that the Democratic slates other than her own are guided by the tactics of "power politicians" have been refuted by Alger Y. Barbee.

Barbee is candidate for the senatorial post on the United Democrats for Tawes ticket.

Barbee countered that Senator Schweinhaut has on her own "County Democrats" slate the "power politicians" of today.

"She is," Barbee said, "the state senator by virtue of a very recent mandatory appointment of the Governor, dictated by the Montgomery County State Central Committee - the acting chairman and other members of which are members of her slate.

The president of the County Council is also a candidate on her slate.

Thus we see that the three 'key positions' mentioned by her as sought to be regained- namely the state senator, County Council and State Central Committee are already under (Continued on Page 3)

one power. and we therefore ask, who are the power politicians now? said Barbee.

"This is another example illustrating that the County Democrats ticket has nothing to talk about and continues to camouflage its support for a certain gubernatorial candidate."

This last reference was to a recent meeting at which most members of the Schweinhaut ticket expressed their personal support of David Hume.
