These Frenchmen we are told, after some little Examination, gave out, - that Monf. Montcalm was gone down to Louisbourg, with a great Part of his Regulars: And that at Ticonderoga, there were 8 Regiments, besides Canadians and Indians, thought to be between 4000 and 5000:--Rogers's Information seems to strengthen the latter Account; as he saw them very busy, and estimated them at about 3000.
And that Crown Point was but indifferently garrison'd.
