Full Text
In the mean time the Court of Russia, to demonstrate its Readiness to supply the Emperor with the Money offered as an Equivalent for the Troops which were to have been sent to his Assistance, and to remove the Suspicion that Count d'Osterman had raised to the Contrary, has ordered its Bankers immediately to pay his Imperial Majesty 500,000 Rubles, and the Baron de Keyserling, who is returning from Petersbourg to Vienna, has it in Charge to negotiate 500,000 more at Leipsick, to be afterwards returned from thence to Vienna.
The Imperial Court would nevertheless have preferred to this Sum of Money the Assistance of the Russian Troops which have been inured to Difficulties and Hardships; whereas the Recruits and fresh Troops that are sent into Hungary, in order to avoid the Dangers arising from Pestilence, Famine, and the Sword, desert almost as fast as they arrive there.
