From Albany, Feb. 28.
We have a report in town of another disaster, that Sacket's Harbor is taken--the shipping and stores burnt, &c. But as it cannot be traced to any probable source, excepting the stream of rumor that an express has arrived with dispatches for the governor, it is not generally credited.
The above report from our correspondent at Albany, has created a considerable sensation, but as we conceive, without any sufficient cause. We have believed that post to be secure against any probable attack, especially since the arrival of the troops from French Mills. On the 1st ult. the 9th and 20th U. S. infantry (having marched 115 miles in 5 days) reached there. A part of the 3d artillery had also arrived, and the remainder was expected, with the 11th and 21st infantry on the 13th. Since that time Commodore Chauncey, and two seamen from this part, have also reached there.--and the combined force of the whole, with the expected activity and vigilance of the officers, in our opinion, completely puts at rest, any apprehension of serious damage to that important station. Letters to the 22d, from the place, stated that all was safe and well there.
