THE TAXES

It will be seen by a notice published in another part of today's paper that the collection of the ten per cent. contribution Hampton tax will close on the 31st of the present month. Learn that the people in this county have paid up very well but that there are many who have not contributed to the support of the government of their choice worth a cent. Some of these reside right here in Orangeburg. They cry Hampton every day but they shrink from duty when patriotism calls for a few dollars out of their pockets. We hope now every man in the county will come up and pay his contribution before the end of the month.

Hampton's Government is a fixed fact and it takes money to carry it on. The names of those who do not pay up will be given to the public shortly.
