Full Text
Every falsehood that malice could invent, every pitiful charge that invention could conjure up (says a correspondent) has been circulated by a designing faction in several mercantile towns, to injure the minister of France in the estimation of the people of this country. Such miserable attempts may have a momentary effect to his prejudice, but in the end the people (who always judge right) will see through and despise the puny efforts of a herd of unprincipled slanderers, who have been enemies to the French revolution from the beginning, and at present find no better way of gratifying their enmity than by spitting their venom at the representative of the French nation.
