IN MEMORIAM OF LINCOLN
Appropriate Ceremonies in Honor of the Martyred President.

SPRINGFIELD, ILL., April 16.—Owing to the very unpropitious weather yesterday the memorial services in memory of Abraham Lincoln were attended by nearly as large a number of people as was expected. Arrangements had been made for a larger number of people, but they did not come. All the surrounding towns and vicinity, however, were represented. It rained incessantly nearly all day, so the original programme of marching out to the cemetery had to be abandoned. The services were held in the state house.

The programme consisted of music by the various bands, a speech of welcome by Gov. Oglesby, addresses by Senator Logan, Gen. John A. Logan and others. Letters from ex-President Arthur, Robert Lincoln and ex-President Hayes. The committee on decoration, accompanied by a band of music, went to the cemetery and deposited floral tributes on Lincoln's grave. This was all done at the cemetery.
