Mrs. Johnston Urges Assistance Of Alabama Press Women

Mrs. Richard F. Johnston, the chairman of the press committee of the State Fair has issued a circular letter to the members of the Alabama Woman's Press association, urging their personal assistance in furthering the work of the woman's department. It is her desire that the women writers of the state appeal to the women in their section to come forward with exhibits, and in every way possible to make the fair a success.

"The appropriations," said Mrs. Johnston, "from the Fair management in the departments of domestic science and art have been made, and include almost one thousand dollars. There will be prizes offered in all the departments to stimulate competition and which will add to the splendid success of the movement so auspiciously begun. The press women of Alabama will undoubtedly do all they can and will be heard from early and often."

The following premiums have been offered:

Best conducted woman's department, $15.

Best article on women journalists of Alabama, $10.

Best publication, diploma.

The press committee is discussing the advantages of printing a souvenir book, which will contain interesting data of Alabama. The chairman will this week issue circular letters to the editors of all the newspapers in the state arousing the interest of all newspaper workers. The press committee is as follows:

Miss Elise G. Ball.

Miss Lula Judson, Bessemer.
