Full Text

Continued rains for the past ten days have waterlogged the valley and deposited enough moisture in the soil to assure a good start on spring crops. There is no frost in the ground and winter wheat is still growing and in fine condition. Plowing has stopped but there was a large acreage plowed and many acres seeded before the rains came and prevented further work.

Reports from country sections state that side roads in the valley are in bad condition and barely passable in places. Chief among the bad roads is the stretch on the Round Butte-Ronan road which was graded and waiting for the application of gravel. When the heavy rains started the gravel had not been applied and the graded portion has been badly cut up and rutted. Other portions of that road are bad also and travel over it is said to be both slow and dangerous.
