Shaw Honors 286 Students
Recognition for outstanding scholastic and extra-curricular achievements were given out on Honor Day at Shaw, 286 such merits being presented Tuesday, May 31st. In most instances the awards were by the pupil's instructor.

In Science the Bausch & Lomb award went to James Kutcher and the Rensselaer University award to Robert Jennings by Mr. R. C. Morris.

Mary Lois Uphoff presented the Spanish award to Judy Wachter and Joan Shavely for Miss Isabelle S. Latta.

Mr. Bruce Holderbaum, Art instructor presented the following awards: To John Tomcho, third place in photography division National Art Show; Norman Stone street, a National award.

Also regional Scholastic Art Awards to Dick West, Tom Perkins, Margaret Hunsicker, Marlene Huffman, Sue Gent, Hazelan Zachau, Betsy Baldau, Ray Zambie, Pete O'Toole, Nancy McNamara, Carol Kramer and Enid Gerson.

Honor awards presented by Wayne C. Blough, principal, were:
National Honor Society Awards for James Kutcher and Marjorie Small. Announced Kathy Lyons selected to attend the National Junior Red Cross meeting in Atlantic City.
Announced the 1955 Boys State representatives to be Richard West, Harold Klug and Jim Campbell.
Also Ohio State Scholarship Awards as follows: Honorable Mention Kent State, District and County for Ieva Auzins, Mike Ciomek, Mary Uphoff, Harvey Weiner, David Peters, Paul Schupp, Stephan Havas. County for Robert Jennings and Leonard Short: John Kessler who placed 25th for boys in Kent State District and county: James Kutcher, 2nd place for boys in State, District and County.

Science by Mr. Albert Dolan: to David Welter winner of 12th grade award and Doris Anne Mayner, winner of a Certificate of Merit for entries in the Northeastern Ohio Science Fair.
