Full Text

A Natural Curiosity.
We saw a tooth a day or two since, of an animal or reptile of the mastodon or saurian character, which would have been a feast to those who delight to examine the evidence of huge antiquity. The tooth weighed nearly six pounds, and was found upon the farm of Mr. Love, of Hubbard, Trumbull county, some eight or ten feet below the surface of the earth, by some men who were engaged in opening a coal mine. Some parts of it had become perfectly sound and in the natural state. According to the theory of some geologists, this tooth has been imbedded in the earth for a period of nearly four thousand years.—Canfield Sentinel.
