Gratifying,--highly gratifying--must it be to every federalist, to observe the visible effect of the new government upon the trade of this town. Such a sight, a correspondent ventures to assert, has not been seen at the North-end of this town since the year 1770, as may now be seen. Notwithstanding there are as many vessels at the Long-Wharf, and at the South-end, as commonly at this season of the year, there are at, and from Hancock's wharf to Winnisimmet-Ferry, EIGHT Ships, SIXTEEN Brigs, and four Sloops, fitting, and fitted for sea.

Our Mechanics in their undisguised attachment to the federal Constitution, rightly foresaw that the well-being, interest, happiness and safety of our country depended on its adoption. That they may long reap the reward of their patriotism--and that their prosperity under a good government, may be as great, as their distress under a weak government was deplorable, must be the general wish:--For
