Full Text

The following is an extract of a letter from a gentleman at Paris to a gentleman in an adjoining county of Virginia, dated June 25:

"About two months since his majesty adjourned the consideration of the case of the Hero, when laid before him, for 30 days, it being then doubted here whether the U. States would renew the non-intercourse act against England. This I do believe was the cause of the postponement; for I have not a doubt that if such renewal had not taken place, all the American property arrived since Nov. under the faith of the Duke of Cadore's letter to Gen Armstrong, would have been confiscated by the Emperor: such as had arrived prior to that date and remained undecided on, would have of course shared the same fate."

A postscript to the same letter, dated June 30, says, "The Emperor has released the Hero's cargo."

Event Details

About two months since his majesty adjourned the consideration of the case of the Hero for 30 days due to doubts over U. States renewing non-intercourse act against England. If not renewed, American property arrived since Nov. under Duke of Cadore's letter to Gen Armstrong would have been confiscated, as would prior undecided property.
