(1) The Cabinet personnel as at present arranged is as follows: Secretary of State—Elihu Root; Secretary of the Treasury—Leslie M. Shaw; Secretary of War—William H. Taft; Attorney-General—Charles J. Bonaparte; Postmaster-General—George B. Cortelyou; Secretary of the Navy—Victor H. Metcalf; Secretary of the Interior—Ethan Allen Hitchcock; Secretary of Agriculture—James Wilson; Secretary of Commerce and Labor—Oscar S. Straus.
Upon the retirement of Leslie M. Shaw and Ethan A. Hitchcock, which will occur soon, George B. Cortelyou will become Secretary of the Treasury and his present post of Postmaster-General will be filled by George von L. Meyer. The Interior portfolio will be filled by James R. Garfield. (2) 386. (3) Utah is at present represented by Reed Smoot and George Sutherland. Sen. Smoot is not deprived of his authority as the result of the action brought to test his fitness for his position.
