One Suffers Skull Injury
One person was in serious condition today in St. Joseph's hospital suffering from a possible fractured skull, while seven others were suffering minor injuries received in accidents over the Labor Day holidays.
Seriously injured was:
Leo Black, 36, of 22431 Donald, East Detroit, possible fractured skull.
Others were:
Marie Black, 29, of 22431 Donald, East Detroit, internal injuries.
George Dickson, 30, of 22431 Donald, East Detroit, bruises about the body and legs.
Pvt. Guy Bowers, 25, 4th Air Base, Selfridge Field, head and leg injuries.
Jack December, 2946 Cola, Route 6, shoulder and neck injury.
Art Swartout, 44, a barber, of 6320 Shoemaker, cuts about head and shoulder.
Fred Swartout, 50, of 6320 Shoemaker, shoulder bruises.
Black, his wife, Marie, and another passenger Dickson, were injured early this morning when they were struck on New street and Broadway avenue by a car driven by Earl F. Gowen, of 117 Cass avenue, Mount Clemens police said this morning. According to Mrs. Black she had just completed a left turn from New street onto Broadway avenue, when Gowen pulled to the left and struck her car in the side.
Charles Hanser, of 2573 Fischer boulevard reported that he struck Pvt. Bowers with his car early this morning when the soldier walked into the path of the car. Bowers was taken to Selfridge Field hospital.
When December lost control of his car Monday morning on North avenue, outside the city limits, he ran into a ditch and injured his shoulder and neck. He was taken to his private physician.
