The Universalist Sunday Schools of Maine Hold Their Reunion at the Beautiful Lake.
Lake MARANOCOOK, July 8.
The fourth reunion of the Universalist Sunday schools of Maine occurred at Lake Maranocook Thursday. The company gathered in large clans. The prospects were good for a successful occasion from the time of arrival until 12 o'clock. The time was spent in exchange of greetings and social converse from 12 to 1 o'clock, and at dinner, from 1 to 2.30, after which the literary exercises occurred.
Twenty-five hundred persons were in attendance. Among the number were clergymen and able representatives of the denomination in Maine. The exercises opened at 3 o'clock. J. V. Bradley of Portland, presided. Prayer was offered by Rev. Geo W. Bicknell of Lowell, Mass. The meeting was addressed by Revs. J. S. Gledhill of Gardiner, Geo Jenkins of Belfast, E E. Peck of Bangor, Q H. Quinn of Deering, M. Crosby of Portland, C. A. Hayden of Auburn. Music was given by Prof. Stanford Mitchell of Boston, soloist, Mrs. Mitchell, accompanyist, singing of America and other hymns by the congregation. The Juvenile Band of Brunswick furnished excellent music. This band has won an enviable reputation in the State. The reunion proved a great success.
