Full Text

Breaking up of the great Hard Cider fountains.

Every day brings evidence, and every measure of the Whig party, as it is urged forward to maturity, develops signs of dissolution and want of union in that combination; and the party will no doubt be resolved again into its original discordant elements. The old Whigs will rally around Mr. Clay. The Conservatives and doubtful Constitutionalists, with some of the Tippecanoe Democrats, will hang on the skirts of Mr. Tyler. The old Blue-light Hartford Convention Federalists and Abolitionists will cling to Mr. Webster, howling with disappointment. The unsubdued, war-worn Democrats, well disciplined in the defence of the people's rights, will rally to the support of their veteran leaders, and march boldly and in order to the contest. Success will ensue the defeat of the Federal party is certain. Arkansas unyielding in her democracy, though young, will be in the van at the coming contest to reclaim and more firmly establish the true principles of our republican institutions.
