Music teachers from Delaware, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and the District of Columbia will gather at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 10 for the first biennial convention of the Eastern Division of the Music Teachers National Association, Inc.
George Steiner, of the Music Department of George Washington University, Washington, D.C., is program chairman for the convention. He has announced a program of panel discussions, lectures, and recitals for the three-day session.
J. Robert King, Associate Professor and Director of Instrumental Music at the University of Delaware will preside at a session on woodwind and brass ensemble literature. Mr. King is widely known for his musical activities throughout the state. He is director of the Delaware Symphonette and a member of the Delaware Music Educators Association, the Delaware Society of History and Culture, and the Delaware State Music Teachers Association.
The Music Teachers National Association, Inc., founded in 1876, is the oldest professional music organization in the United States. Its purpose is to bring together teachers of every classification and branch of music for the sharing of information and encouragement of professional growth.
