Mr. J. Mudge, private secretary to the Lieut. Gov. of Canada, lately committed suicide. He dined in public on the day of the event—went home—blew out his light, and retired to bed. He subsequently took his rifle, put the muzzle to his mouth, touched the trigger with the ramrod—and its contents passed through the upper part of his head, carrying away a large portion of the upper part of the skull, over the left eye. A friend of his in England had recently committed suicide, which is the only reason assigned for the event. He was a respectable and amiable man.
