A fire broke out in Cincinnati at 3 o'clock on last Thursday morning, in a frame house, at the east end of 5th street, occupied as a grist mill; which, with the steam-engine, &c. were totally destroyed: insurance $5000. The American states that "a frame house in the neighborhood was partly destroyed; whilst a new brick building, standing directly between it and the fire, escaped with slight injury to its shutters. The roof was tin." And adds this remark, "It is strange that tin and slate roofs are not more in vogue." National Banner, May 15th.
