Full Text
Oh Mexico.
By O. F. Irvin, Mineral Point.
If it was ours to fight for justice or the right,
May God give us victory, sustain us in our fight.
The English language could not portray,
The blush of shame would spread o'er our face;
For crimes and bloodshed, for many long years,
To witness such high-handed doings by any race.
With wailing humanity that's long been oppressed.
Governed by tyrants, tortured with fear;
No wonder they struggle, fight for their rights.
That is thy history for many a long year.
In your history it's already put down-
Four diabolic plots, and many misdeeds,
Since the day you were cradled at birth,
The worst of all races and of all creeds.
It's high time your career as a bad nation
By some strong hand should be subjected:
You'll be changed and your ways will be governed.
So that by others you would be more respected.
Oh Mexico, you respect nothing on earth:
The rulers that oppress them in bondage and woe,
For cruel atrocities that have marked up your line.
If you are not careful your republic will go.
