NCSSE MAY HONOR SAFETY RECORDS
Plans Underway To Recognize Employees With 50 Year Achievements

WINSTON-SALEM, May 9 -(P) -North Carolina Society of Safety Engineers today made plans to honor every industrial worker in the state who has spent 50 years or more on the job without lost time accident. it was announced here at the annual meeting.

The announcement said that North Carolina industries would be canvassed for employees who qualify.

Also discussed was recent legislation passed by the 1947 General Assembly, which had a direct bearing on safety in the state and which was supported by the North Carolina Society of Safety Engineers. Praised as being steps taken in the right direction were a (Continued on Page Two Col. 6)

law banning the sale of fireworks and a law requiring an examination and re-issuance of license for North Carolina drivers.

The annual industrial safety conference banquet was held tonight. This afternoon the conference split into four groups for discussions of problems related to separate industries.

Dorsey Honored

E. L. Dorsey Jr. of Charlotte, safety engineer with the American Mutual Liability Insurance company, was elected president of the Society.

Other officers elected by the engineers were: C. J. Hyslup, of Elkin, safety director with Chatham Manufacturing company, vice-president, and J. D. Brown of Enka, safety director of the American Enka corporation, secretary treasurer.

E. G. Padgett, safety division director of the North Carolina Industrial commission, Raleigh, is retiring president of the society.
