Bruce Harris, 304 3rd St. N. E., superintendent of the Lewis and Clark Generating Station, has been named to head the coming Building Fund Canvass of the People's Congregational Church. As chairman of the Canvass Committee, Harris will direct the Congregation's efforts to raise funds for a new Sanctuary and Educational Unit for the newly proposed building program. The site of the new church will be on the corner of 3rd Ave. S. W. and 2nd St. S. W. The program will call for the removal of the present parsonage and the home which is located on the adjoining lot. In accepting the appointment at the meeting of the Building Committee, Harris said, "The opportunity to work for the expansion of the church's power for good in the community is a solemn and joyful one. In the Christian education of our young people we make a bequest to future generations." Harris is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of People's Church, The Masonic Lodge, the Kiwanis Club, the Commercial Club, and the Elks Club. Other members of the board include Dr. Gordon Beagle, Mrs. Phyllis Edington, Dave Albin, Jim Turner, Duncan Narum and Robert Petersen. The financial campaign has been set for September 10-16 under the leadership of Harris E. Beverly, of the Congregational Church Finance Advisory Service.
