Only Two Percent

Estimated Vacant

Real estate opinion here is that not
more than two percent of the resi-
dential property in the city and its
environs is vacant at this time. The
view is based on familiarity with
conditions by those who devote some
of their time to rental activity. More
desirable tenant property is still dif-
ficult to locate by those wishing
homes in the middle class field.

A
recent announcement from
Washington was that 30,695 out of
817,141 dwelling units in the entire
State were vacant when the census
was taken in the spring. It was said
units listed as vacant were mainly
houses and apartments for sale or
rent, but included some units held
for absent households or temporarily
occupied by non-resident households
whose homes were elsewhere.
