RELIGIOUS AWAKENING.

During the past year there seems to have been a widespread awakening of interest in religious matters throughout the civilized world, evident in the discussions of the subject in magazines and newspapers and increased enthusiasm in platform and pulpit. The recent sweeping revivals in Wales and other parts of Great Britain have almost rivaled the Eastern war in the columns of the daily papers, and the portraits of the promoters have appeared side by side with those of the Czar and his generals. In the metropolis of our own State Christian people are uniting their efforts in this direction, and the vast tabernacle is nightly filled with thousands whose faces are set toward righteousness.

Nowhere has this movement been more strongly felt than in the schools and colleges. The Y. M. C. A. and Y. W. C. A. in the colleges of the United States have never had a year of such steady and gratifying progress as that which has just past. The young men and young women of Florida are not left out of this grand procession, and their organizations keep step with those of their brothers and sisters in other States.

Stetson University has two very flourishing associations, which have recently furnished a hall provided by the University for their use. For two weeks they have held nightly meetings led by President Hulley, in which nearly thirty young men and women expressed their desire to enter the way of life. Parents who send their boys and girls into such an atmosphere may feel confident that the chances are very greatly in favor of their becoming men and women whose sympathies are with whatsoever things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report.

And this is only one of the many institutions engaged in the grand effort for the uplifting of humanity.
