Full Text

Copy of a letter from Annapolis, to the Secretary of the Navy, dated Annapolis, July 13th, 1814.

The British vessels, that passed up the Bay on the 6th inst. are now anchored at Poplar Island, 25 miles below Annapolis. They went down early this morning, consisting of one frigate, schooner Atlas, three sloops and seven schooners; two of their prizes are said to be the Frenchtown and Cambridge packets; as we have not heard of their plundering on shore, their object appears to have been to capture vessels and obtain water which they took in above Swan Point.
