The legislative inquiry into the official conduct of this distinguished jurist appears to excite much interest in the State of New-York.
Judge Van Ness is accused of having received $5000 from the Bank of America, for services as a member of the Council of Revision, in procuring the passage of the act incorporating said Bank. Several of the Directors of that Bank, and the Editors of the "American" (Messrs. King, Hamilton and Verplank) have repaired to Albany, on a summons from the Committee of Inquiry, for the purpose of testifying in the case before them.
