WASHINGTON. D. C.--(By D W Chase for ANP)--It means much to teach in the public schools of the District of Columbia, as is evidenced from a survey printed in School Life (March) the official organ of the United States Office of Education. According to David T. Blose, associate specialist, the average salaries of supervisors, principals and school teachers in Washington are second only to the average salaries paid in New York City and the average salary in the educational field in Washington is more than $500 a year above that for the rest of the country. The average in Washington $2,376 as against New York's $2,780, and a national average of $1,808.
Where separate tables are shown for white and colored teachers it is found that the District pays nearly $700 more a year than Delaware in second place in the average for colored teachers, supervisors and principals While It is shown that colored teachers here get the same pay as do the white, the pay of colored teachers is much less in many places.
