HEAVY VOTING EXPECTED TO BE RULE HERE

That an exceptionally heavy vote will have been cast in El Centro when the polls close at 7 o'clock tonight, and that the rest of the county is following suit in marking up a record number of votes was the indication gathered in a canvass between 12 and 1 o'clock this afternoon.

While voters in the outlying precincts were not coming in as fast as those in the towns, it seemed that interest about the entire county would result in the largest vote of recent years.

Of 4358 voters registered in El Centro's 12 precincts, 1389 already had voted shortly after noon, and others were coming to the polling places with a regularity which promised that more than one-half of the registered voters will have cast their ballots when the polls close.

A heavy vote was reported at Calexico. Brawley voters were trooping to the polls in much greater numbers than at the primary election. No figures were available on either town.

A report reached El Centro that 16 voters, comprising the entire registration of the Picacho precinct, had cast their votes before noon. This is believed to be the first precinct to complete its voting.

As is usual, election officials were preparing for rush between 5 and 7 o'clock this afternoon.

El Centro's precincts, with the number of votes cast early this afternoon, and the number of voters registered in that precinct, follow:

No. 1, 148, 486; No. 2, 110, 316; No. 3, 87, 321; No. 4, 120, 330; No. 5, 149, 450; No.6, 160, 493; No. 7, 134, 380; No. 8, 154, 448; No. 9, 77, 304; No. 10, 101, 325; No. 11, 69, 233; No. 12, 80, 272.
