Albany, August 31, 1848.
Mr. Fillmore has received a letter of congratulation from General Taylor. I learned its contents from a friend. Taylor says he has no doubt the name of Fillmore will prove a tower of strength to the whig cause in the Northern States. He expresses gratification at being associated upon the ticket with a man so distinguished as Fillmore, and says, also, that he does not doubt but the dissensions in the democratic party of New York will give that State to the whigs.
