R. S. Tucker and children, of Winchester, visited over Friday night with their parents, John Hayslip and wife, near West Union.

Mrs. Goldie Tolle, who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. James Boyd, is visiting relatives and friends at Peebles.

Sam Leeks and daughter, Cora and son, Noble, of near Russellville were Sunday evening guests of W. D. Bryan and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Richey of Russellville, was a Saturday guest of Lon Davis and wife.

Mrs. Bertha Bryan and children, Lucille and Clarence spent Saturday evening at the home of Will Snyder and family, near Winchester.

Sam Lehr, and wife, of Winchester were Monday afternoon guests of J. M Cross and wife.

E. E. Jamison has sold his property to C. E. Kirkpatrick and will move to a farm near Winchester, in a few weeks.

William Spencer had a radio installed in his home last week.

Quite a crowd attended the sale at Clarence Stevens near town last Saturday. Mr. Stevens will move to a farm near Hamilton, and Al Newman and family will move on the Stevens farm. John Alexander and family will move on the Al Newman place.

Mrs. Margaret Stevenson, who has spent the past winter with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Simmons, at Portsmouth, Va., will arrive home today.

Miss Wanita Steele spent the week end with home folks at Eckmansville.

Mrs. Emily Hagerty, Mr. and Mrs. Al Newman and Mrs. Wylie Richards were shopping in Winchester, Thursday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Kirkpatrick entertained for dinner last Thursday, Rev. and Mrs. F. A. Dumm, Mrs. R S. Kirkpatrick, Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Baldridge and Mrs. Stella Campbell.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stevens entertained for dinner last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Messner, of Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Wikoff and children, Mae, Pauline and Harry and Glen and Bernal Newman.

Rev. Jamison, Synodical Superintendent of the First Ohio Presbytery preached at U. P. Church last Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs Ross Mosier and daughters, Lucille and Frances, of near Decatur, visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Mosier.

Mrs. Fred Evans is spending the week at Cincinnati with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Games.

W. A. Kepperling and J. E. Mathias, of Cincinnati motored here Sunday to see their sister, Mrs. Gus Stevenson who has been seriously ill. Mrs. Kepperling and daughter, Mary Evlyn, who have spent the past week caring for Mrs. Stevenson returned home with them.

Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Moore and Sherman Shell, were Friday guests at the home of Mrs. Dove Rotroff at Winchester. Mrs Rotroff's aunt, being very ill at the Rotroff home.

Mrs. Hettie Roush visited over the week-end with her son, Clyde and family in the Sunny side neighborhood.

Harry Gustin and family, of Winchester were Sunday guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Jessie Gustin.

Mrs. Jasper Grimes of near Winchester spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Grimes.

George Short and family visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Short's brother, Anderson Gulick in the Buckeye neighborhood. Mr. Gulick who has been sick for almost a year is very low at this writing.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hatton and little daughter, Vergia of near Eckmansville, were all day guests at the home of F. M. Grimes, Wednesday.

WINCHESTER
The Ladies Aid birthday group No. one, of the M. E. Church will hold a bake sale on St. Valentine's day Feb. 14. at 1:30 o'clock p. m. in C. A. Bradford's room on Main st.

Mr. and Mrs. Clare Smith and children, Thelma and Wilmer of Cincinnati spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Purdin.

James Glasgow of Dayton was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shelton Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ermine Holt (nee Nell Shumaker) are entertaining a new son, at their home in Higginsport. Mrs. Holt was a former Winchester girl.

Samuel Ball and wife of Dayton visited his parents Charlie Ball and wife, Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs. Lizzie Short is visiting her son Ernest Short and family of Logan.

Miss Lizzie Miller visited her sister, Mrs. Haas at Macon Monday.

Rev. Nafe of Lockland arrived here last night to assist Rev F. M. Myers pastor of the Baptist church in a two weeks meeting beginning last night. Every one is invited to attend these meetings.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watson had as guests Sunday his sisters Miss Gladys Watson and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moon and three children of Union Plains.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short had as dinner guests Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Knowles Stevenson and little daughter, Dorothy, Misses Mary and Evelyn Short of Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Short, of this place.

Miss Emily Fenton returned home last Thursday from Christ hospital Cincinnati, where she has been a patient for the past several weeks. We are glad to report her as getting along nicely.

Misses Ethel and Wanda Ebrite were Cincinnati visitors Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watson are the proud parents of a new son born Wednesday the little one will answer to the name of Norman Earl.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Pat McClain Saturday.

A. T. Rees and Melvin Goetz were business visitors in Cincinnati Friday while there, they called on H. H. Mechlin at Bethesda Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith (nee Mamie Bayless) are the proud parents of a son born Sunday.

Miss Sadie Gopperton and Co., have sold the shoe store to Shriver K Collins, of which they have taken possession. Mrs. Rachel Plummer has accepted a position as clerk.

Mrs. Sadie Short returned home from Cincinnati Saturday where she had been visiting relatives, her sister Mrs. Carl Wilson and children accompanied her home.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hauck of Ripley were recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith.

Andrew Stivers, wife and daughters, Ruth and Grace, of Hamilton, were calling on Mrs. Lizzie Goetz Sunday.

Mrs. C. A. Shaw and little daughter Lou of Hamilton are visiting her mother, Mrs. L. A. Rotroff.

Delno Dixon, S. B. Sexton, Mrs. Ray Muller and the Misses Lucy and Ella Middleton, were Georgetown visitors Sunday.

T. J. Breen was a Cincinnati visitor Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Kendall entertained to dinner Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Sexton and son Howard and little Betty Louise Jacobs.

Rev. Harry Lyons, M. E. Minister assisted by Rev. Peterson, of Ada, O., closed a successful meeting at Bentonyille Sunday night with 32 conversions.

Miss Thelma McNeilan entertained Miss Josie Edenfield of Brush Creek over the week-end.

Mrs. Rachel Plummer had as guests Saturday G. C. McNelian and family of West Union and Ed Kendall and family.

Gibson Fenton left Monday for Athens to attend school.

Donald Evans who is attending school at O. S. U. at Columbus visited last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Evans.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Washburn of West Union and Mrs. Goldie Freeman and children, Harold and Mary Eloise, and Miss Fay Tolle of Portsmouth were visiting Mrs. Ella Brumley Saturday.

Mrs. Laura entertained to dinner Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bryan and daughter, Lizzie Nevil and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bryan and son, Clay and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kane of Mt. Olivet.

Mrs. John Neu and Mrs. Viola Abbott and three children, of Georgetown are visiting this week with the latter's mother and sister, Mrs. Fred Neu and daughter Sarah.

Mrs. Ethel McDowell returned to her home at Piqua Thursday after a three weeks stay at the home of Dr and Mrs. Arthur Griftes.

Mr. and Mrs. Austin Keethler of Mt. Orab were pleasant guests of Dr. and Mrs. Floyd Long Monday.

The Misses Gladys Johnson and Lucille Turner, of Otway visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Smith Friday night and attended the basket ball game.

John Rhodes moved his family to Dayton Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Morrison and little daughter Betty Jean of Dayton spent the week-end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Dixon.

CALVARY
Albert Pence and Lester Walker will farm the W. C. Walker farm here this year.

Mrs. William Kennett and Mrs. Sam Bell ate their birthday dinner this year at the home of Mrs. Bell on Feb. 3.

Marion Stroup, who has been in Green county near Xenia since Christmas returned to his home here on last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kennedy and daughter June and Mr. and Mrs. Will Kennedy were guests of John Stroup and family on last Monday.

On last Thursday, William Stroup took his mother, Mrs. John Stroup to near Xenia where she is visiting her daughter, Mrs. George Webster and family.

Will Lanter and Gallia Osborne delivered their crops of tobacco to the Maysville, Ky., market on last Monday.

Wid Paul and Lenn Eyre took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mathias at Mowerystown on last Sunday.

Anna Roberts, teacher of the Brush Creek school was a guest at the home of William Kennet and family last Wednesday night.

George Abbott accompanied William Stroup on his trip on last Thursday as far as Samantha in Highland county, where George stopped to bargain with a farmer for employment on the farm this year.

Ed Kennett accompanied his brother-in-law Will Lanter to Maysville on last Monday.

LOCUST GROVE
Scott Mason is taking the census of agriculture of Franklin township.

S. H. Henize will ere long move here and locate on the farm known as the Daniel Trichler place.

Ott Bobb, having disposed of the flouring mill, will soon leave the Grove and locate at Hillsboro.

Miss Margaret Boyd, High School teacher spent last week-end at her home near Martinsville.

Harrison Haws, overseas soldier, was before the Bureau of Medical Physicians at Cincinnati last week.

Claude Hamilton is dancing for joy, because the stork left him a fine little boy baby.

A play will be given in the auditorium of the High School building at an early date.

Oscar Rickey, a former Grove boy but who has been located at Sioux City, Iowa, for several years, is working for J. H. Copeland.

Jesse Dugan, who got his leg broken and dragged about twenty feet while hauling wood is reported better.

Rev. Ertle and wife were accompanied here last Sunday by her sister Miss Mable Wade of Goshen.

We only have two Seniors in the High School, Alma Fulton and George McCory.

J. H. Copeland made a business trip to Scioto county last week.

Miss Ruth Eylar has been clerking at the Cobler store during A. W. Davis' absence at Peebles.

M. C. Conoway, north of town, butchered a hog last week that tipped the beam at 960 pounds and he got 200 pounds of lard.

Supt. F. W. Kendall is owner of a new Ford sedan.

Miss Nina Arnold was the guest last week of her brother, S. O. Arnold at Sinking Springs.

Mrs. Cynthia Arnold after spending a week with her sister, Mrs. Harvey Morrison, of Peebles has returned to her home here.

Mrs. J. H. Arnold entertained Mrs. Rose Chenoeth, Mrs. J. H. Messenger, Mrs. Frank Seaman, Mrs. E. C Wright, Miss Nina Arnold and Myrtle Masteller with a dinner last Thursday.

J. M. Day, accompanied by his wife, made a business trip to Hillsboro last Thursday.

Mrs. Hermon Landon and children of Portsmouth, are visiting her mother, Mrs. J. W. Tener.
