TIME TO SPEAK UP
That militant American, H. L. Hunt, the Texas multi-
millionaire who is devoting himself whole-heartedly to the
task of selling his countrymen on their own country, gives
us a simple, fundamental thought to paste in our hats:
"Patriots are overwhelmingly in the majority . . ." This
is the keynote of an editorial by Mr. Hunt in the May issue
of Facts Forum News. Love of country, Mr. Hunt believes
is a natural and proper emotion for everyone, and in spite
of the crackpots and pinkos and one-worlders and out-
right Communists --who would have us deplore and ridi-
cule and display a patriotism -- the great majority in any
nation remain normal human beings.
Mr. Hunt would have us add the Golden Rule to our
patriotism to provide an effective antidote to the sly seduc-
tions of the Commies, who, if they can shake our belief in
our own system, have gone far toward remolding it to their
sadistic desires. By way of making our belief in ourselves
and our traditions more apparent, and bucking up those
who may be wondering whether they should admit their
patriotic feelings, Mr. Hunt urges American business to
"Add Patriotism to Ads"
In his editorial, "Let Freedom Ring," he points out
". .. when you and your kind by the millions begin standing
up to be counted, become vocal, and let your convictions
be known, an awakening and quickening of common sense
about public affairs in America will afford the traitors
meagre feeding ground -- a barren field for infiltration.
Communists do not fancy the hot flame of Freedom.
Of the "Add Patriotism to Ads" program. Mr. Hunt
says, "Your cost is nil. If you advertise and frequently in-
clude patriotic plugs in your ads, more than twice as many
people will read them . . . and you will have shown the best
of reasons for patronage.'
His is an eloquent plea: " ... to find, recognize, ap-
prove and encourage the patriots who are all around you,
probably neglected and lonely. And knowing of their pride
in their patriotism 'do unto them as you would have them
do unto you'."
Let us not be blinded by sneers to the fact-of-life Mr
Hunt has pointed out to us. "Patriots are overwhelmingly
in the majority."
