Loving Brother—I desire to let you know some of the Lord's goodness to poor me. I came home three years and nine months past, and after I had been at home awhile, I broke out with sore ring worms; near one quarter of my skin was sores, and a sore pain and burning in my breast. Great part of this time, too sick to go about; and this was not the worst—great part of the time, a load of trouble, doubting I should be lost—though two or three times the Lord gave me a manifest of his love. All this affliction, I hope, has worked for my good, by killing me to this world, and causing me to look for a better. Know then, that for about ten days, the Lord has been wonderful good to me, by giving me much of his love. It seems as if the blessed Lord had sent the blessed comforter to abide with me.—My language is Glory! Glory!! I feel such love and comfort, I want you to know how good my dear old Master is to me. I am poor and sick—do not much expect to live—but fully resigned to God.
